Winter is upon us and as the Winter Solstice has passed and days are meant to be getting longer it is still a time where cold days and cold nights are well and truly here. Embracing Winter Wellness is something that can be left dormant while we slow down and spend more time indoors, which is what our body craves at this time and so it is time to honour our body’s needs.
Though it does not mean being a couch potato; movement is part of our body’s way of staying supple, youthful and healthy!
It may mean you incorporate different activities to keep you moving or just getting rugged up and taking a walk outside experiencing fresh crisp air on your face. Maybe a warm yoga class is what your body needs or just doing functional training may keep you warm.
Whatever it is gentle movement is always good for your body, embrace Winter Wellness energetically, physically and chemically. Through movement, internal reflection and a nourishing, warming diet full of beautiful winter vegetables.
Though what winter means on an energetic level is, that it is time to also look within and work through what you would like spring and summer to look like for you and your health.
Clearing the clutter of our internal emotions is like going through all your cupboards and getting rid of all the junk, clothes and paraphernalia that are no longer needed and has been cluttering up your space and energy.
Winter is the perfect time to complete projects that have been lingering and not completed, time to clear out all paperwork, documents, photos and clothes from the past that just don’t fit or no longer need to be part of your life. As you clear the physical clutter from your homes, it is the beginnings of clearing out and focusing on your energetic clutter, thoughts, feelings, and illness that no longer serves your physical and emotional health.
The greatest gift we can give to ourselves over winter is to focus inward and listen to our body’s whispers of dis-ease, mental, emotional or physical as it is so much easier to resolve than waiting until your symptoms become the only thing you can think about.
Our thoughts, feelings, anxiety, fears start off as energy and can manifest in the physical which is why I am so passionate about healing through energy work; allowing shifts to happen and clear so we can maintain, health, vitality and youthfulness.
