Chiropractic is the largest drug-free health care profession in the world. Chiropractors focus on working with you body.
What does a chiropractor do on your first visit?
Upon arriving for your first chiropractic visit, or Initial Consultation, you will be greeted by our friendly Chiropractic Assistant and given two forms to fill out. These are your consent and medical history forms. These give you a chance to explain to us why you’re seeking our help, and help us to build a picture of your health. It also allows us to inform you about your health care choices and any risks associated with those choices.
It’s a good idea to arrive 5-10 minutes before your appointment time, as these forms can sometimes take a bit of thinking!
When you’re ready, your Chiropractor will bring you in to the treatment room and conduct a detailed health history. Following this you will be asked to change into a gown, and your Chiropractor will conduct extensive postural, orthopaedic, and neurologic tests.
Finally your Chiropractor will perform full spinal scans using the Insight Technology Subluxation Station (go to www.subluxation.com for more information). These scans indicate areas of dysfunction, muscular tension, weakness and and your heart rate variability. The combination of your history, tests and scans help us to accurately determine the health of your spine and nervous system and realistically determine your potential for improved function, and better health.
You will then be left to change and asked to meet your Chiropractor in the reception area, where you will be given your x-ray referral and a new client information pack. Lastly one of our friendly Chiropractic Assistants will explain where you can have your x-rays taken and will schedule your second chiropractic appointment.
Your second visit
The second chiropractic visit is known as the Report of Findings. Ideally this visit takes place within 48 hours of your first visit. Please bring your spinal x-rays in with you if you have not already brought them to us for your Chiropractor to analyse.
Your Chiropractor will then give you a thorough report detailing the results of your scans, your x-rays, and the examination findings from your first visit. Your Chiropractor will then discuss a personalised plan of action. This may include recommendations for treatment, exercises, nutrition and supplementation, or referral should this be required. If your Chiropractor has determined that Chiropractic care is appropriate for you, you may have your first adjustment.
During this appointment you will be provided with a lot of information both in regards to the Chiropractic care that we provide and about your health specifically. We understand that there is a lot to take in! Please remember that you can ask questions at any time during your appointment or you can call or email at any time should you have any queries.
At the end of this appointment one of our friendly Chiropractic Assistants will make your next appointment as required.
Your third visit
Your third appointment typically takes place within 48 hour of your second visit. You will be asked for feedback from your Chiropractor about your response to your first adjustment. You will then have your spine assessed and adjusted as required. At this point your Chiropractor will have enough information about how well your spine & nervous system has responded to confirm the appropriate schedule of care for you. Again this is an opportunity to ask questions should you have any.
Regular visits to Body in Balance
During a regular chiropractic visit you will be taken from the reception area to the adjusting room and asked to lie face down on the adjustment table in order for your body to relax prior to your adjustments. Regular adjustments are typically very time efficient, however this can vary depending on your body’s requirements at that appointment. Some adjustments take twenty minutes and some take two, your Chiropractor will always provide you with the care that your body needs at that time.
